Radius has received many questions regarding the upcoming strike, and we are committed to continuously providing updates.
On September 4th and 5th, the ILA (International Longshoremen’s Association) held a meeting in New Jersey with its Wage Scale delegates to discuss contract demands and prepare for a potential strike. At the start of the meeting, the ILA announced a firm stance on striking, suggesting that they might already be set on a strike rather than focusing on negotiating.
The meeting concluded with a statement showing that all delegates support a strike on October 1st if a new agreement isn’t reached by the September 30th deadline.
As of now, the ILA has not updated the USMX (United States Maritime Alliance) on their new contract demands or scheduled a bargaining session. The latest update from the USMX was on September 5th and it speaks on their current offer. This offer includes competitive wage increases and keeping current technology terms.
If a strike occurs on the U.S. Gulf and East Coasts, it could cause significant delays and backlogs which could potentially take four to six weeks to recover from. Radius International is closely monitoring the situation and will keep you updated. If you have any questions about the possible strike, please contact us.
